- "In the queen of trees beats a heart of oak, strong, aged and ageless, pulsating with the rhythms of the earth. In her perception the lives of humanity fly unattended, like summer nights."
- —Fin Raziel, about Cherlindrea, in The Willow Sourcebook
Cherlindrea, nicknamed "the lally Maiden of the Forest," was an entity that commanded powerful magic and ruled over the fairies, animals, and brownies of the fairy forest. Her mate was the Stag Lord, ruler of all the beasts in Cherlindrea's Groves.
She could not be attacked by anything less than the most powerful magic. Even in the event that she would be killed, Cherlindrea would eventually reform from the life spirits of her forest. Although she did not exactly match the description of that race, some scholars proposed that Cherlindrea was an elemental.
1342 years after the Nelwyn Arrival Day, Cherlindrea gave Willow Ufgood her wand to deliver to the sorceress Fin Raziel and sent two of her Brownies, Franjean and Rool, to accompany Ufgood on his quest to take Elora Danan to Tir Asleen.
Behind the scenesEdit
Cherlindrea was portrayed by the Swedish actress Maria Holvöe. To achieve Cherlindrea's graceful look, Holvöe mimed to a sped-up recording of her lines. The camera was then set to record at twice the speed as well, and when the footage was projected at the normal 24 frames per second, her dialogue sounded normal, while her movements were slow and graceful.
