Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is a motion picture visual effects company that was founded in 1975 by George Lucas. The company's filmography notably includes the Star Wars saga and the fantasy film Willow. ILM has won 15 Academy Awards and 15 BAFTAs, and has been nominated 29 and 17 times, respectively.
On Willow, ILM ran the universal FX-playbook, including matte paintings, miniature sets, stop-motion creature work, and blue screen composites. To produce a magical transformation sequence, ILM also broke new ground with the first use of digital morphing technology.
