"Spells are like stars, that you must study to learn their patterns. But no more word games. Choose your path. If you turn from magic, I wish you happiness, but I must find another disciple. I cannot think who it would be, except—Bavmorda."
Vulsant, in The Willow Sourcebook

Vulsant was a male Daikini. A sorcerer, he served as the court magician of Tir Asleen. Born into a textile family, he was the mentor of Fin Raziel before the kingdom fell under the curse of the Demon Queen Bavmorda.

"Warned me—face to face. Gave me—plenty of time—to defend myself. But—"

Vulsant as a male Daikini who belonged to a family of textile merchants. He participated in the Great Mystery and, as such, was able to use magic. At some point, Vulsant became the court magician of Tir Asleen, under the reign of King Tanthalos VIII. It was he who examined the infant Fin Raziel and determined that she was fit to become a sorceress. Vulsant took Raziel under his wing, and intended to make her his successor. However, after Raziel fell in love with Prince Mikal, she became neglectful of her studies. Disappointed, Vulsant threatened to take Raziel's rival, Bavmorda, as his new apprentice. However, before anything of that sort could happen, Bavmorda had grown too powerful. She not only managed to bewitch the Prince, but also threatened Vulsant and the other wizards of Tir Asleen. Humiliated and physically hurt, Vulsant resigned his position at the castle and went into exile. He lived in isolation for a short time, but soon died of apparently natural causes.[1]
